About Married To The C

Executive Summary

MARRIED TO THE C is a 2005 Carver 38 Super Sport from the model’s first production year. She has a two-stateroom, split-level layout, a fully enclosed flybridge and a cockpit set up for both swimming and fishing. A shallow 2' 4" draft makes her practical for the ICW, the sounds and coastal cruising.

She is powered by twin Volvo Penta D6 turbocharged diesels with 814 port / 815 starboard indicated hours. At the last sea trial(2024) both engines reached their rated 3,600 RPM at wide-open throttle with no excessive vibration and no oil or coolant leaks noted. Equipment includes a Kohler 8 kW diesel generator, bow thruster, Raymarine C80 chartplotter with radar and autopilot, Maxwell windlass with bridge and foredeck controls, and two Marine Air reverse-cycle A/C and heat units.

Work noted at the 2024 survey includes a recoated bottom, a replaced port trim tab cylinder, new shore power inlets and upgraded mattresses in both staterooms. That survey rated her Above Average condition, with no blisters sighted and no excess moisture found. Since that survey she has received two new Dometic A/C units, turbos, starters, exhaust manifolds, oil coolers, shaft seals, the rudder have been repacked, and fresh bottom paint.

Dimensions & Capacities

LOA / Beam / Draft: 38' 0" / 13' 5" / 2' 4"

Displacement: 25,900 lbs (dry)

Hull: Fiberglass with balsa core; planing modified-V hull with hard chines and flared bow

Fuel Capacity: 334 gallons (two aluminum tanks)

Fresh Water Capacity: 86 gallons

Holding Tank: Approx. 25 gallons

Cruising Profile: 2' 4" draft is well suited to the ICW, shallow sounds and coastal cruising

Vessel Name: MARRIED TO THE C

Location: Beaufort, NC

Mechanical & Propulsion

Engines: Twin Volvo Penta D6 inline six-cylinder, turbocharged, aftercooled marine diesels

Horsepower: 370hp

Engine Hours: 814 port / 815 starboard indicated hours

Sea Trial (April 2024): Both engines reached rated 3,600 RPM at WOT; oil pressure 60–65 PSI, coolant 185°F

Engine Controls: Volvo Penta electronic controls with engine synchronizer

Transmissions: Volvo Penta / Hurth hydraulic marine reduction gears, 2.50:1

Shafts: 1 1/2" stainless steel shafts on dual I-beam struts

Shaft Seals: PYI dripless water-cooled shaft seals

Propellers: Four-blade 25 x 28 Nibral propellers

Rudders: Cast bronze rudders with 1 1/2" stainless rudder posts

Generator: Kohler 8 kW diesel generator, sound-insulated, under the cockpit sole, with approximately 300 reported hours

Bow Thruster: Bow thruster with dedicated battery switch and charger

Trim Tabs: Electric trim tabs; port cylinder replaced

Steering: Teleflex SeaStar hydraulic steering

Fuel System: Racor fuel filter/water separators plus a fuel polishing system

Oil Change System: X-Changer oil transfer system

Climate Control: Two Marine Air self-contained reverse-cycle A/C and heat units with digital controls (16,000 BTU each)

Electrical: Two 30A/125V shore power inlets with 50' cord, automatic shore/generator transfer switch, Professional Mariner 60A battery charger, five Group 27 batteries, AC/DC analog meters

Bilge Systems: Three 1,500 GPH bilge pumps with float switches, plus a high-water bilge alarm

Fire Suppression: Halon 1301 automatic/manual engine room system with Fireboy engine shutdown at the bridge helm

Accommodations & Interior

The salon is laid out on two levels behind Carver’s two-tiered windows: a raised dinette with L-shaped lounge, and a galley up to port with granite countertops, Nova Kool refrigerator/freezer, two-burner ceramic cooktop, Sharp convection microwave and stainless sink. Her two Volvo Penta D6 diesels show about 815 hours. She has a bow thruster for close quarters and an enclosed bridge for shoulder-season runs. Her two-stateroom layout suits a couple cruising with guests, and the cockpit livewell, washdown and swim platform cover fishing and beach days.

Her mechanical spec is stronger than many boats in her size range: PYI dripless seals, Racor filtration with a fuel polishing system, an X-Changer oil-change system, Halon engine room suppression and an 8 kW diesel generator. Add the Raymarine radar and autopilot package, reverse-cycle air in the salon and master, and a recoated bottom, and MARRIED TO THE C is a well-equipped way to cruise the coastal waterways and beyond.

Resolute Yachting is pleased to assist you in the purchase of this vessel.
