Grenfell Yachts built a very limited number of these hand-crafted West Coast cruisers in Vancouver during the 1960s, and today they are regarded as rare examples of classic Canadian yacht craftsmanship. Constructed with beautiful mahogany lapstrake planking, bent oak frames, and elegant teak detailing throughout, the 40’ Grenfell blends traditional styling with solid offshore capability. NAUTI GAL IV is powered by twin MerCruiser 350HP gas engines (700HP total) on direct drives, offering impressive performance for a classic 40-footer. The port engine has seen extensive recent mechanical upgrades including rebuilt internals (approx. 300 hours ago), new exhaust manifolds and risers, new 150-amp alternator charging the house bank, new starter, new fuel pump, new custom wiring harness, new billet HEI distributor, and a rebuilt Holley 750 marine carburetor. Both engines received new plugs and wires last season along with new starting batteries. Engine care has been meticulous, with consistent seasonal oil changes and documented servicing. Importantly, there is no fuel smell in the cabin, a testament to proper maintenance and fuel system integrity.
