The <strong>Daniel Webster Clements'</strong> keel was laid in 1994 at the Zirlott Boatbuilding Yard in Coden, Alabama, near Mobile. Construction took four years, with completion in 1998.</p><p><br></p><p>She has a <strong>displacement of 32 tons</strong>, a <strong>deck length of 54 feet</strong>, and a <strong>sparred length of 72 feet</strong>. The <strong>beam is 17'9"</strong>. She carries a <strong>steel centerboard</strong> and draws a little over <strong>six and a half feet</strong> with the board down and <strong>three and a half feet</strong> with the board up.</p><p><br></p><p>She is built with <em>pressure-treated southern yellow pine</em>. The mast and bowsprit are <em>solid pressure-treated pine</em>, while the booms, gaffs, and topmast are <em>laminated spruce for lightness</em>.</p><p><br></p><p>The interior bulkheads and tongue-and-groove paneling are pressure-treated pine. The cabin flooring is <em>white oak</em>.</p><p>The side decks are <strong>40" wide</strong>, and the <em>roomy</em> <strong>aft deck is 15 feet wide by 11 feet long</strong>. The deck space between the two cabins measures <strong>16 feet wide by 6 feet long</strong>. The top cabin provides <em>excellent gathering space for customers</em>.</p><p><br></p><p>Forward, the vessel carries a <strong>Lunenburg Foundry Ratchet Gypsy Windlass</strong> manufactured in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.</p><p>The <strong>centerboard is retractable</strong> and is lifted and lowered by a <strong>Thern Spur Gear hand winch, model M452</strong>.
