<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>History &amp; Inventory – Skye, Nelson Marek 46</strong></p><p>General information</p><p>Designed by Greg Stewart of Nelson Marek under the ILC 46 box rule requirements. Constructed in </p><p>1995 by Carrol Marine.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>&nbsp;Primarily a fresh water boat having spent the vast majority of its life here in the great lakes. Present </p><p>owners have owned Skye for the past 11 years. The previous two owners were great lakes sailors.</p><p><br></p><p>&nbsp;A sprit was added for ease of handling and to add 22% more spinnaker area. Careful research was </p><p>done involving both sailmakers and Greg Stewart to insure proper design and construction of the </p><p>sprit/sail package as well as considerations for handicap rating effects. Existing carbon pole and the </p><p>pole track remains on the mast if there is a desire to move back to symmetrical spinnakers.</p><p><br></p><p>&nbsp;A great deal of development time and effort was spent with Pat Considine the chef designer for UK </p><p>Sailmakers developing the sail inventory. Along with development/construction details Pat spent </p><p>many hours of on the boat time insuring the sail builds best met performance outcomes.</p><p><br></p><p>Winter storage (inside building).</p><p><br></p><p>&nbsp;After 37 years of boat ownership the owners will be retiring from owning their own boats. Many of </p><p>the miscellaneous equipment and gear acquired over the years can be included in the sale if a new </p><p>owner would like. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Hull &amp; foils</strong></p><p>The Hull is constructed using cored E-glass with a Kevlar outer layer. The keel foil is lead with a glass skin </p><p>and torpedo bulb. The rudder post is carbon fiber, rudder material has not been determined. Two </p><p>rudders exist the original is in storage and was replaced with the upgraded version currently in use.</p><p><strong>Deck</strong></p><p>Constructed of cored E-glass with a Kevlar outer layer. Deck is painted with easy to repair KiwiGrip.</p><p>Winches are lewmar except the two cabin top halyard/spin winches which are Harken (new as of 2022). </p><p>Steering is a single wheel utilizing light weight rope type steering control. A Raymarine auto pilot is also </p><p>in place…ram is disconnected for racing purpose, used only for long deliveries.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Standing rigging</strong></p><p>Aluminum mast with four (4) spreaders and a top jumper strut. Fractional head stay and running </p><p>backstays. Boom construction material is unknown possibly E-glass. Boom control is European style </p><p>single line to deck mounted winches. Mast built by Hall Spars.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Engine &amp; Drive</strong></p><p>Yanmar 3JH2-TCE. Saildrive Yanmar. Engine had a minor rebuild 2017. Engine was removed and sent to </p><p>Polk Diesel (see invoice for details). 2014 saildrive rebuild due to output shaft seal leak Crowleys Yacht </p><p>Yard.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Instruments</strong></p><p> Ockam Instruments with (4) four mast displays and (4) four cockpit displays. Parts now supported </p><p>by Bill Fanizzo (Ockam).</p><p>Head stay load cell and Display.</p><p><strong>Cordage</strong></p><p> Jib and Spinnaker sheets (Dyneema)</p><p> All Halyards (Dyneema)</p><p> Barber haul line with Harken snatch block.</p><p> Running back uppers and checkstays - Ultra Wire.
